Beschrijving voorzijde Draped bust of Margrave Charles Frederick facing right, with elaborately curled hair tied with a ribbon, rendered in fine Baroque style. A mint-master's mark 'S' appears below the bust truncation. The peripheral legend in Latin reads CAROLUS FR : D . G . M . BAD . ET H S, identifying the ruler by name and title. The legend is separated from the bust by a raised inner rim, with a reeded border at the coin's edge.

Aanvullende informatie

Charles Frederick ruled Baden-Durlach for an extraordinary 73 years, but the late 1760s were a specific inflection point: he had recently consolidated the Baden territories and was actively courting Physiocrat economic reformers, eventually implementing some of the most ambitious agrarian reforms attempted by any German prince of the century. The ducat issues of 1767–68 fall squarely within this reformist moment, produced for a court that was simultaneously broke from inheritance disputes and intellectually fashionable across Europe.

Wielandt's Baden cataloguing identifies this as a scarce two-year type with no recorded continuation past 1768.
