正面描述 Draped bust of Margrave Charles Frederick facing right, with flowing curled hair, rendered in high relief in the Baroque tradition. The engraver's initial S appears below the bust truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads CAROLUS FR : D . G . M . BAD . ET H S, abbreviating his full title as Margrave of Baden and Hochberg by the Grace of God. The legend is separated from the milled border by a plain field.

附加信息

Charles Frederick ruled Baden-Durlach for an extraordinary 73 years, from 1738 until the margraviate was absorbed into the newly elevated Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 — making him one of the longest-reigning German princes of the 18th century. His administration is associated with Physiocratic reform, and he corresponded directly with Voltaire and the French économistes, but ducats of this period were minted primarily to facilitate trade and pay obligations denominated in gold rather than to project any reformist agenda.

Baden-Durlach ducats of the 1760s are struck to the standard Dutch-influenced fineness of .986, closely tracking the widely circulated Rhenish ducat specification.
