| 背面描述 | The quartered arms of the Margraviate of Baden-Durlach displayed on a large heraldic shield, incorporating multiple territories' emblems rendered in fine detail. The shield is supported on either side by draped mantling tied with ribbons, and surmounted by a princely crown. The date 17-51 is split to the lower left and right of the shield, with the mint initials B and C appearing in the lower field below the shield, separated by a central ornament. |

Charles Frederick inherited Baden-Durlach at age ten in 1738 and would go on to rule for an extraordinary 73 years — one of the longest reigns of any German ruler. By 1751, he was newly of governing age and consolidating authority over a financially strained margraviate. The ducat series from this period served the practical demands of trade and diplomatic gift-giving rather than any reform ambition.
Wielandt's Baden cataloguing distinguishes the 677b variety from 677a by subtle die differences — collectors should cross-reference the Wielandt plates directly rather than relying on secondary attributions.
