Charles Frederick was just six years old in 1705, having inherited the duchy the previous year upon the death of his father Frederick IV. The duchy was a contested patchwork of territories with split sovereignty between the Danish crown and the Holstein-Gottorp line — a tension that would eventually lead to the Great Northern War engulfing the region entirely. Ducats struck under a child duke with regency governance are administratively unusual, and the 1705 issue falls squarely in that uncertain interregnum window.
