| Beschrijving keerzijde | Four crowned oval shields arranged in cruciform, each bearing the arms of Württemberg, separated by ornate ducal monograms in the four angles of the cross. At the center, a rayed star or Order badge occupies the intersection of the shields. The whole is enclosed within a milled border, with the date 1736 divided across the upper field. The Latin legend DUCA : - AUREUS WURTEM - BERG : 17 - 36 : is distributed around the design in four segments, identifying the denomination and issuing duchy. |

Charles Alexander ruled Württemberg for just six years, and his reign was consumed almost entirely by his role as an Austrian field marshal and the administrative chaos of his conversion to Catholicism in a staunchly Lutheran duchy. He died suddenly in 1737 — one year after this piece was struck — mid-arrest warrant, having just been exposed in the Süss affair, a financial scandal orchestrated by his Jewish court factor Joseph Süss Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer was hanged in a cage within months of the duke's death.
