| Reverse description | Square klippe reverse featuring a central lozenge bordered by a wreath of laurel or olive branches. Within the lozenge, a seven-line Latin inscription fills the field, reading E: VANG: REPVRGA / TI. A° MDXVII / NVMMVS IVBI / LÆVS. A° / MDCXV / II, commemorating the centennial of the Lutheran Reformation (Anno MDXVII, 1517) and the jubilee year of issue (Anno MDCXVII, 1617). The lettering is rendered in upright Roman capitals in the humanist style. The plain gold field between the wreath border and the coin's outer edge is unadorned, emphasising the solemn commemorative character of the piece. |
