Reverse description Saint Evasius, patron saint of Casale Monferrato, depicted as a mounted bishop in full pontifical vestments including mitre, riding a rearing horse to the right and raising his right hand in benediction. Beneath the horse is a heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Paleologo dynasty. The composition fills the field in a dynamic, characteristically late-medieval Italian style. The surrounding legend, separated by pellets, references the saint and runs along the beaded border.
