背面描述 The reverse presents a decorative cartouche or ornamental tablet with foliate scroll borders enclosing a five-line Latin inscription spread across the field. The legend MO:ORD: PROVIN: FOEDER: BELG AD LEG IMP. identifies the coin as the standard currency of the federated Belgian (Netherlands) provinces, struck by imperial decree. The text is arranged in a stacked, centered format within the ornate frame, consistent with the traditional reverse design of Dutch gold ducats throughout the Republic and Batavian Republic periods. The border ornamentation features stylized foliate and shell motifs typical of late 18th-century Dutch coinage.

附加信息

The Batavian Republic was proclaimed in January 1795 following the French-backed overthrow of the Stadholder William V, who fled to England as French troops crossed the frozen rivers into the Netherlands. The Utrecht Mint continued striking ducats through this revolutionary interlude largely because Dutch ducats had functioned as a trusted international trade currency for nearly two centuries — disrupting that continuity would have damaged commerce far more than any political transition.

The .983 fine gold standard was deliberately maintained from the preceding Dutch Republic issues, ensuring the coin's acceptance in Baltic and Levantine trade networks without renegotiation.
