| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain Greek cross with slightly splayed arms is centrally placed within a trefoil polylobed inner frame, the lobes filled with curling foliate scrollwork and rosette bosses in the Gothic taste. The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are left open within the inner frame, emphasizing the symmetry of the design. A beaded inner border separates the central motif from the surrounding circular Latin legend, which invokes the Carolingian king Conradus as nominal overlord of Genoa. The overall composition mirrors the decorative vocabulary of the obverse, creating a harmonious double-polylobed design typical of Genoese ducats of this period. |
