Beschrijving voorzijde Left-facing draped bust of U.S. President John F. Kennedy occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with a polished, sculptural quality against a stippled matte ground. A small shield motif with vertical lines appears at the truncation of the bust, flanked by two small laurel sprigs. The circumferential legend reads in raised Latin capitals along the upper arc, with the date 1963 positioned at the lower right of the border.

Aanvullende informatie

This piece belongs to a wave of privately issued commemorative ducats produced in West Germany during the early 1960s, capitalizing on Kennedy's June 1963 European tour — which included his famous Berlin visit and the "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech delivered on June 26th. The Aureus Magnus series was not official Bundesbank coinage but rather struck by private minting houses operating legally under West German law, producing gold pieces marketed to collectors and souvenir buyers.

Kennedy was assassinated five months after the tour ended.
