| Obverse description | The obverse displays a multi-line commemorative Latin inscription filling the entire field, recording the enthronement of August, Duke of Saxony, as Administrator of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg. The legend reads across eight lines, noting the date as 13 October 1638 ('ANNO 1638 DIE 13 OCT.') and detailing the event of enthronement ('INTRONISATIO POST ILL. ARCHIEP. MAGD. PRIM. GERM. DN.
