Aanvullende informatie

Anselm Casimir Wamboldt von Umstadt became Archbishop-Elector of Mainz in 1629, inheriting a see already devastated by the Thirty Years' War. Mainz itself was occupied by Swedish forces from 1631 to 1636, during which the archiepiscopal administration effectively collapsed and coinage was severely disrupted. This ducat, struck in the final years of his reign, came as the war ground toward the Peace of Westphalia — negotiations in which the Mainz electorate had a direct political stake as one of the ecclesiastical princes whose territorial rights were under active renegotiation.

Wamboldt died in September 1647, before the peace was formally signed.
