In his raised right hand he holds an upright sword, while his left hand grasps a bundle of seven arrows symbolizing the seven united provinces. The design is rendered in the robust late-Renaissance style typical of Dutch Republic coinage. The encircling Latin legend reads CONCORDIA · RES PAR CRES : HOL · 1673, invoking the motto of unity and identifying the issuing province of Holland. |
