Obverse description Imperial double-headed eagle displayed at center, each head surmounted by a crown and the whole beneath a single imperial crown, with a shield on the breast bearing the arms of Lübeck. The date 1792 appears in two parts flanking the lower portion of the eagle's body, divided by the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design reading FRANCISCVS II ROM IMP SEMP AVGVST, referring to Emperor Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor. The field is smooth and the design is struck in high relief characteristic of late 18th-century German gold coinage.
