Obverse description Crowned ornate oval shield bearing the arms of Nuremberg — a quartered coat featuring a diagonal bend and an eagle — set within elaborate baroque scrollwork cartouche. Mintmaster's initials S·H appear below the shield in the field. The date 1766 is incorporated into the circular legend, which reads NORIMB· (Norimbергae) around the periphery, with MONETA AVREA REIPVBL· completing the inscription across the upper and right fields. A mural crown surmounts the shield.

Reverse description Armored bust of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II facing right, his hair elaborately curled and dressed in the style of the period. The emperor is depicted in classical military armor with ornate shoulder detail. The surrounding legend reads IOSEPHVS II·D·G·ROM·IMP·SE·A·P·AVG·, identifying him as Joseph II, by the Grace of God, Roman Emperor, forever Augustus, in standard imperial titulature. The portrait is executed in high relief with fine engraving attributed to Johann Leonhard Oexlein.
