附加信息

Hamburg's ducat coinage of this period was struck under the city's own monetary authority, fiercely maintained through the Thirty Years' War and its chaotic aftermath. The city had suffered Swedish occupation of surrounding territories and persistent disruption to North Sea trade, yet its mint continued producing high-quality gold largely because Hamburg's merchant class demanded a reliable coin for international exchange — particularly with the Baltic and Levant trades. The Hamburg Bank, founded in 1619, pegged its accounts to the mark banco, and ducats of this type circulated well beyond the city's walls as trusted hard currency throughout the Dutch and German commercial networks.
