| Obverse description | Standing armored knight facing forward, holding a raised sword in his right hand and a heraldic eagle shield in his left, the date split to either side of the figure in the field. The image follows the classic ducat knight type widely used by German city-states. A rope or cable border encircles the design, with the Latin legend MONE : AUR : - CIV : EMBD : distributed around the periphery, identifying this as the gold coinage of the City of Emden. |
