| Reverse description | The reverse features a decorative cartouche of elaborate scrollwork and foliate ornament surrounding a five-line Latin inscription occupying the central field. A fleur-de-lis finial crowns the top of the cartouche, and small asterisks appear at the base. The overall design is enclosed within a beaded border and reflects the refined engraving style typical of Strasbourg civic coinage of the period. The inscription reads DVCATVS REIPVBLICÆ ARGENTINENSIS, identifying this as a ducat of the Republic of Strasbourg. |
