Henry the Younger ruled Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel until his death in 1568, but his relationship with the Reformation defined his tenure far more than his coinage. He was among the last major German princes to resist Lutheranism, a position that put him in direct military conflict with the Schmalkaldic League in the 1540s. Charles V's defeat of the League at Mühlberg in 1547 briefly restored Henry's territories after years of exile. These Dreilings were struck in the relative stability that followed.
The MB#73 reference places this among the smaller denominational issues of the Wolfenbüttel mint, produced for everyday local exchange during a period when Brunswick's monetary output was still consolidating after the disruptions of the preceding decade.
