Obverse description Central device depicting the Hamburg castle arms: a three-towered fortified gate rendered in relief, each tower surmounted by a bulbous finial and pierced by window openings, set upon a rusticated base with an arched gateway. The mintmaster's initials O.H.K. (for Otto Hinrich Knorre) appear in the lower field beneath the castle. The coin has a reeded border visible along the rim.
