Obverse description Central field displays the quartered arms of Saxe-Weimar, featuring the traditional Saxon barry-of-ten with a crancelin (diagonal bend) in the upper quarter and the Ernestine arms in the remaining quarters, all rendered in low relief characteristic of late seventeenth-century German hammered coinage. The shield is flanked by decorative elements in the field. The mint-master's initials ICS appear in the lower portion of the field, while the abbreviated ruler's monogram FWLM is distributed across the upper field, referencing Duke Wilhelm Ernst of Saxe-Weimar.
