Obverse description Two heraldic shields displayed side by side in the field, with the date divided above them. The left shield bears the arms of the Abbey of Fulda, while the right shield displays the personal arms of Abbot Philip Schenk of Schweinsberg. The date numerals appear prominently across the upper field, separating the two escutcheons. The coin is struck in the typical hammered style of mid-sixteenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage, with an irregular flan and no surrounding legend on this face.
