Beschrijving keerzijde A descending dove, representing the Holy Spirit, is depicted with wings spread and rays of divine light emanating from it, positioned above an ornate multi-tiered fountain. Flanking the base of the fountain are small vessels or cups. The scene alludes to the 'Fountain of Life' referenced in the Book of Revelation. The biblical citation APOC.21 appears in the lower exergue, anchoring the iconography to Revelation 21. The circular legend DER BRVNNEN DES LEBENS, meaning 'The Fountain of Life', runs around the periphery of the coin.

Aanvullende informatie

The "Kerzendreier" — candle three — takes its nickname from the tall, thin flan that resulted from Nuremberg's response to the Kipper- und Wipperzeit, the catastrophic currency debasement crisis that swept the Holy Roman Empire around 1619–1622. Municipal mints across the Empire were slashing silver content to exploit exchange rate differentials, and Nuremberg, though more fiscally conservative than many, was not immune to the pressure. The unusually narrow, elongated planchet distinguishes this issue immediately from contemporary small silver.
