Obverse description Crowned ducal monogram 'IH' (standing for Julius Herzog, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel) prominently displayed in the field, surmounted by a ducal crown. The intertwined letters are rendered in a bold Gothic style characteristic of late 16th-century German coinage.
