| Obverse description | The obverse displays the quartered Electoral Saxon coat of arms surmounted by an Electoral crown, flanked on both sides by elaborate feathered or palmette ornaments filling the field. The shield incorporates the traditional Saxon barry with ruta crown in the central partition, rendered in fine relief. The date appears in the lower field beneath the shield. No peripheral legend is present, the entire design being dominated by the crowned heraldic achievement within its decorative surround. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a large ornate crowned cypher of Elector John George III, composed of intertwined script initials forming an elaborate monogram surmounted by an Electoral crown with prominent cross finial. Flanking the monogram at the left and right are the mint-master's initials C and F, identifying the Dresden Mint official Christoph Fuchs. At the centre base of the monogram, the numeral 3 is displayed within a circle, denoting the denomination of three Pfennige. The design is contained within a lightly decorated field with no peripheral legend. |
