Aanvullende informatie

Artsakh — internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but administered by ethnic Armenians following the First Nagorno-Karabakh War — issued its own coinage beginning in 2004 despite having no formal recognition from any UN member state. These aluminum drams circulated locally but functioned as much as political statement as practical currency, asserting administrative independence in a territory whose status remained violently contested. The series continued until the region's complete collapse in September 2023, when a 24-hour Azerbaijani military offensive ended the enclave entirely and its entire population fled.
