Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Othon facing left, rendered in finely engraved high relief with naturalistic detail in the hair and facial features, including a light moustache. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut. The circumferential Greek legend reads ΟΘΩΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, separated from the portrait by a plain field, with a beaded border encircling the entire obverse.
