Obverse description Bare-headed, truncated bust of King George I in mature effigy facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features in a naturalistic academic style. The engraver's signature ΓΙΑΚΩΒΙΔΗΣ (G. Jakobides) appears incuse on the truncation. The circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ (George I, King of the Greeks). The mint date appears in the lower exergue below the bust. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.
