Obverse description Bust of the unbearded king Vasishthiputra Sri Satakarni facing right, rendered in the pronounced-lip style characteristic of later Satavahana portraiture. The effigy is depicted with bold, schematic facial features typical of the hammered coinage of this dynasty. A circular Brahmi legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading 'rajno vasithiputasa siri satakarnisa', identifying the ruler by his full royal titulature. The legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan, with individual aksharas clearly separated. The overall style reflects the Kshatrapa-influenced drachm tradition adapted by the Satavahana rulers.
