Obverse description Bust of the ruler facing right, depicted in the Sasanian-influenced Central Asian style, wearing an elaborate crescent-topped helmet or crown with decorative elements above. The hair is rendered in flowing strands falling behind the neck. A crescent symbol appears prominently above the head, and a tamgha or royal symbol is visible to the right of the bust in the field. The effigy shows strong Kushano-Sasanian artistic influence typical of Tokharistan coinage of the early 8th century.

Additional information

The Tokhara Yabghus were Turkic governors holding nominal authority under the Western Türk qaghanate while navigating constant pressure from both the expanding Umayyad caliphate pushing into Transoxiana and Tang Chinese influence from the east. Sahi Tigin was among the later yabghus operating in this increasingly unstable corridor. By 700–720, Arab raids into Tokharistan were becoming incursions, and coinage of this period often reflects hasty or reduced-quality production consistent with a polity under military and administrative strain.

Göbl 270B is a rare sub-variety within an already thinly documented series.
