| Reverse description | Zoroastrian fire altar flanked by two attendants standing in profile and facing the altar, rendered in a simplified imitative Sasanian style characteristic of Sogdian workshop production. A star and crescent symbol appear in the upper field on either side of the altar, standard celestial emblems of Sasanian religious iconography. The attendants wear typical Sasanian court dress with their hands raised toward the flame. A beaded outer border surrounds the composition. The overall design faithfully follows the Peroz I drachm prototype but with the schematic treatment consistent with post-Sasanian Central Asian imitative issues. |
