| Reverse description | Zoroastrian fire altar at centre, depicted in a stepped architectural form with flames rising from the altar top and a crescent and pellet flanking the shaft. Two attendant figures stand on either side of the altar in profile, each dressed in robes and appearing to tend the sacred fire, in a composition closely derived from Sasanian coinage prototypes. Pahlavi script legend reading 'GDH 'pzwt' (meaning 'may fortune increase') appears in the field around the central group. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border on the irregularly shaped flan. |
