| Popis rubu | Strongly schematized fire altar flanked by two attendant figures in the Sasanian tradition, the whole design being a debased derivative of the standard Bukharan drachm type. The altar is rendered as a vertical structure with crossbar elements and globular terminals, while the flanking figures are reduced to stylized outlines retaining only vestigial detail of the original Sasanian prototype. Arabic inscription legends are disposed in the field and around the periphery, consistent with the hybrid Arab-Bukharan coinage of the Abbasid governorate period. The flan is irregular and the strike characteristic of hammered provincial issues of Transoxiana. |
