| Obverse description | Crowned royal bust facing right, rendered in a stylized Sasanian-derived artistic tradition, with a diademed and crested crown surmounting the effigy. The face is depicted frontally with large almond-shaped eyes, a characteristic feature of post-Sasanian numismatic art of Central Asia. An Arabic legend is arranged in the field before the bust, identifying Jabuya as ruler of the Oghuz and client of the Commander of the Faithful. The overall design reflects the syncretism of Sasanian iconographic conventions adapted for Islamicized Turkic coinage of the Syr Darya region. |
