Reverse description A cross with scalloped or lobed terminals, with a small crown ornament in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross. The design is executed in the late French Renaissance hammered style characteristic of the reign of Henry IV. The surrounding legend incorporates the date 1594 and reads SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICT, a pious invocation meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord.'
