Obverse description Central field displays the royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis or — surmounted by a closed royal crown adorned with fleurs-de-lis and crosses. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with additional fleurs-de-lis visible in the surrounding field. The circumferential Latin legend reads LVDOVIC D G FRANCOR REX, identifying Louis XII as King of France by the grace of God. The overall style is characteristic of late fifteenth-century French heraldic coinage translated to the Milanese hammered tradition.
