| Obverse description | Armored bust of William X Gonzaga facing left, wearing elaborate Renaissance plate armor with richly detailed pauldrons and a ruffled collar, the hair and beard rendered in fine detail. A beaded inner circle frames the effigy, with the Latin legend running along the outer field reading GVL D G DVX MAN III ET MON FER I, identifying the ruler as Duke of Mantua and Marquis of Montferrat. The portrait is executed in a high-relief hammered style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Italian goldsmithing. |

| Reverse description | Central field occupied by the large quartered coat of arms of the Gonzaga dynasty, combining the arms of Mantua and Montferrat, supported by elaborate Renaissance cartouche strapwork with foliate and scrolled mantling flanking the shield. A ducal crown surmounts the escutcheon at the top of the field, beneath which the motto FIDES appears on a ribbon or label. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border, with no peripheral legend, the word FIDES serving as the sole inscription. |
