Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy facing right, depicted with curly hair and a short beard, wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with a ruffled collar visible at the neck. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance manner, enclosed within an inner circle of beads. The circumferential Latin legend reads EM • FILIB • D • G • DVX • SAB • P • PED, identifying the ruler as Emanuel Philibert, by the grace of God Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont. The field surrounding the bust is plain, with a finely beaded outer border framing the entire obverse.
