Obverse description Accolated busts of the regent Christine Marie of France (mother) and the young Duke Charles Emmanuel II to left, the larger maternal effigy draped and positioned behind the smaller juvenile bust of the duke, both facing left in profile. The date 1640 appears in the lower field below the busts. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigies within the beaded border, rendered in a bold Baroque engraving style characteristic of mid-17th century Savoyard coinage.
