Obverse description Armored bust of Charles Emmanuel I facing right, wearing a prominent ruffled lace collar and elaborately decorated plate armor, with curly hair rendered in high relief in late Renaissance style. The effigy occupies the majority of the coin's field, with finely detailed shoulder armor visible at the lower left. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, interrupted by the bust truncation at the base. The portrait conveys a strong ducal authority characteristic of Savoyard gold coinage of the late sixteenth century.
