Obverse description Youthful crowned effigy of Carlos II in right-facing profile, wearing a high lace collar and with long flowing hair cascading over the shoulders, rendered in a baroque portrait style. The crown is ornate and sits prominently atop the head. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROLVS·II·REXH·SPANIAR· with the date *1676* incorporated into the inscription. The portrait occupies the full height of the field, with fine die-engraved detail visible in the hair and collar.
