Obverse description Quartered papal shield of arms occupying the central field, displaying oak trees and acorns characteristic of the Chigi family arms of Pope Alexander VII, the quarters alternating between a diagonally striped field with an oak tree and a granulated field with oak branches bearing acorns. The shield is surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of St. Peter. The circular Latin legend reads around the periphery within a beaded border.
