Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborately mantled papal arms of Alexander VII (Chigi family), displaying a shield charged with six mountains beneath a six-pointed star, all set within a rich baroque cartouche with ornate scrollwork and foliate flourishes. Surmounting the shield are the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the papal tiara, rendered in fine relief. The circular Latin legend is distributed around the periphery, separated by pellet stops, all within a plain inner border and a beaded outer rim.
