Obverse description Centrally positioned ornate baroque cartouche bearing the word LIBERTAS on a diagonally hatched shield, flanked by elaborate scrollwork mantling and surmounted by a civic crown with prominent finials. The shield is rendered in high relief with fine engraving, and the overall composition reflects the refined Baroque artistic style characteristic of 18th-century Italian city-state coinage. The circumferential Latin legend reads RESPUBLICA LUCENSIS, distributed around the periphery of the field.
