Singapore's Lunar New Year bullion series has been issued annually since 1985, making the Pig the final animal in the first complete 12-year cycle to be struck under the Monetary Authority's gold program. At 0.3 grams of .9999 fine gold in a 7mm format, these were produced for gift-giving rather than circulation — red packet presentation being the explicit commercial driver behind the series from its inception.
