| 正面描述 | The central field features the shield of the Republic of Palau coat of arms, depicting a traditional Palauan bai meeting house above figures of a native fisherman in a canoe and the god of the sea, with the motto RAINBOWS END inscribed on a scroll within the shield. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged around the shield in the field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, while the denomination 1$ appears in the lower field below the shield. |

Palau has issued commemorative gold pieces under licensing arrangements that allow it to produce collector coins featuring international landmarks it has no geographic or historical connection to. This 2009 issue is part of a broader "Seven Wonders" themed series — a commercially driven program marketed primarily to European collectors, where the Trevi Fountain's cultural familiarity does most of the selling work.
The fountain itself was completed in 1762 under Pope Clement XIII, finishing a project that had been stalled for decades after Nicola Salvi's death in 1751.
