Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents an intricate naturalistic composition evoking a lush tropical environment, featuring a hummingbird in full flight at the center, rendered in fine detail with outstretched wings, surrounded by an arrangement of broad tropical palm fronds and foliage that extends to fill the entire field. A raised inner circle frames the central motif, within which the denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed to the upper left. The series title THE TROPICS arcs prominently along the upper legend, while the inscription ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER .999 runs along the lower rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Barbados began issuing collector-focused silver rounds under its dollar denomination in the 2010s, largely targeting the bullion market rather than domestic circulation. This piece is essentially a modern bullion coin dressed as legal tender — the face value is nominal against its silver content, and no one was spending these at a rum shop in Bridgetown.

The KM#81 reference places it firmly in the modern commemorative series rather than Barbados's circulation coinage lineage, which dates to decimalization in 1973.
