Fiji's polymer banknotes had already replaced paper by this point, making this a somewhat anomalous commemorative issue in base metal. The rectangular format — 40 x 28 mm — places it in a small family of lozenge or bar-shaped coins that circulated briefly as novelties in Pacific island economies during the 2010s, none of which saw meaningful day-to-day use.
