Palau's commemorative dollar program has long exploited the freedom that comes with issuing coins carrying no realistic circulation intent, and this piece sits at an unusual theological edge. Judas Iscariot appears on very few official coinage programs worldwide — the betrayal narrative makes him a fraught subject for any issuer — but Palau's series on Biblical figures made no such distinctions.
