Liberia's dollar-denominated silver issues of the mid-2000s were produced almost entirely for the collector export market, with no meaningful domestic circulation. This piece, branded with Russian iconography, belongs to a sprawling series sold through international distributors — the Liberian government licensed its monetary authority to generate revenue it could not produce through normal economic activity.
